Cadets
WHO ARE THE ORDER OF MALTA CADETS ?
The Cadet Unit caters for both boys and girls between the ages of 10 - 16.
Currently Cashel has no cadets but will be re-starting a cadet unit later in the year.
WHAT DO THEY DO ?
Cadets are trained in basic life saving skills, first aid, artificial respiration, home nursing and rescue skills. They also assist the senior unit in their first aid and community care duties. Although emphasis is placed on first aid training, the Order of Malta Cadet Corps provides opportunities for cadets to have fun, to try new outdoor activities, discos, various sports, crafts and hobbies, competitions and social activities.
A Proficiency Scheme was established a few years ago, which allows cadets to get a certificate for any hobby or pastime. Once a cadet obtains ten proficiency certificates, the Director of the Ambulance Corps will present them with the "Director's Badge" which is the highest award a cadet can achieve.
An Gaisce - The President's Award
One of the many awards Cadets aim to achieve during their membership of the Ambulance Corps
