Student writing skills

Some people have been asking if I'm a multimedia student why am I using a plain blog. Well the answer is this is my first time writing where others can read just by going to the site. This makes it harder to express your true feeling as it may offend others in some way, either by religion, culture, sex, race or even just saying the wrong word. I am pleased to announce that I will be adding photos and maybe later some animation depending on how fast I can be taught by the mentors at this collage. Writing on a blog is a good way to share your views without any face to face contact with the reader but this is something I fint hard to do on a personal level. I like a face to face so I can observe their body language and judge how I will approach the subject of discussion. just to point out I do a website for the Paintball club in the collage only as a way of learning to interact with others by feedback from the site. The Idea for this blog is to bounce the photos ect.. from this site to the other by way of links and maybe later get an interactive site going on the net. Please send any suggestions to me via the link info@funkill.tk

Where has the power gone...
4.20pm working away at my computer than nothing! The power was out all over and I was at a standstill. No power meant no work could be done than the realisation my life was dependant on power, ELECTRICITY was running my life. Then the darkness crept in and the search for candles began it was luck that someone in the house collected then, scented, sculptured, colored and so on. The scent of lavender filled the air and the flicker of light was the only source of heat in the house. All my heating is gas and needs the power too.
I sat staring at the flame and realised society has become dependant on many new inventions. Electricity being the main one and all others feeding from it. No tv, No radio, No light, No Heat, No cooking and no communication apart from the phone that too needs power. Will the removal of power cause the downfall of society as industry is so dependant on it to produce food, clothing, communication and transport. The lack of power for many will reduce their position in society as political figures must now meet face to face with the public, without any speechwriters to feed the questions. Transport including cars, ships and planes without computers and electrics to power them. Countries become isolated and cultures change for the good/bad.
that what happened to me and 30 hours later there's still no light at the end of this tunnel. The laptop is charging from the collage power socket and with some luck I might catch up on the cyber world soon. This blog is thanks to the sacret power of the collage and if they charged for it I would be happy to pay whatever it costs. Is society at the hands of these multinational companies and if so who has the real power.

Well it's Valentines day and what am I doing ? NOTHING I'm sitting at this computer in collage writing about how miserable my love life is. Only joking I'm married to a wonderful woman the mother of my three children. Happy Valentines day Michelle...
On the other hand what about those still searching for the perfect partner ? Todays the day to send that card and pour your heart out. If Cupids arrow hits let me know if not try again next year. On a serious note feburary 14th is a day of misery for some, the thoughts of loved ones lost or departed are rekindled in the heart causing ache. The only advise I can give is "You have a life so go out there and live it to the full" it's not easy. Maybe you can comfort someone else on this day. A friend is one who's there in the worst of times when they are at their lowest.
Here are just a few examples of what Valentines day means to others
Banning Valentine’s to better fight crises of legitimacy
On this Valentine’s Day, it is useful to examine how Western holidays and cultural habits are playing out in the Muslim world, particularly in two countries where a conservative version of Islam is buttressed by powerful religious establishments: Iran and Saudi Arabia. more....
There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentine's Day. Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. more.....
St. Valentine
At least three different Saint Valentines, all of them martyrs, are mentioned in the early martyrologies under date of 14 February. One is described as a priest at Rome, another as bishop of Interamna (modern Terni), more...

Vodafone vision of the furture Catch a glimpse of the the furture with a visual tour of the technology and its possible uses. Vodafone has captured my eye in the past and this website will give you a better understanding of what I mean about how the human voice may someday be called primitive as a thought could be used to converse with others on the other side of the continent. Is this the furture we all dream about or will it become our downfall. Will society depend so much on technology that an electro magnetic pulse would render us all helpless. This furture may result in de-evolution with the ability to make fire lost to us and the need to survive the only instint remaining in our over dependant brain...Another site recommended by Bernie shows the story of how visions of the furture may be reality today. Vision 2010
Communicating in Utopia For 2010 the reality is communication has created a link with almost every person throughout the world. The need to communicate is part of human nature and now the most isolated part of the world is no longer isolated. Is this a good thing? Maybe but the need for privacy is also human nature. I can only hope a balance is achieved before technology consumes us and the use of the human voice becomes a distant memory. For the media studies class with Bernie the topic: Communicating in Utopia raises some interesting questions. One being will it be regulated or free flowing without censorship and freedom of speech. The acceptable rules of society, the rights and wrongs. Building Utopia on the Internet is one option where you can choose the society or the friends and neighbors at the click of a button. Will the communication of the furture become a world where everyone plays a role and all disabilities become non existent as you become the fictional hero posing as somebody else.

Another day at collage and the brain cells are at full capacity
After reading in the nationalist on the needs of teens in the town, it's clear the youth of this generation are no longer contempt with jump rope and marbles. The advances in games world wide are raising the standards for local clubs to compete and entertain teens. The lack of interests forces these teens to commit acts of vandalism and leads them to alcohol and drugs to get their kicks. The days of volunteering to do good deeds are now considered! Time wasted, with teens looking at more entertaining options available. The challenge to provide a safe and entertaining environment in Clonmel is a task more challanging than raising the Titanic......
Speakout! Clonmel teens on what their town needs - a bowling alley or ice skating rink
Forward thinking entrepreneurs who are hoping to make a career in the entertainment industry could do worse than to come to Clonmel, where there are now a host of young people wishing for more to do ... more

John scoops top photography award for the second time
When the winners of the ESB Environmental Photography Awards were announced last week in Dublin, first in the professional section was John Crowley from Clonmel, who won a tidy E3,000 along with a trophy for his trouble.

Goodbye Candygirl
I sorry to say i did not read Candygirls blog. But while checking Bernies blog I realise while you surf through the pages of the web, there is still a person behind all that electronic hardware. Their thoughts and emotions are placed on your screen and for a brief moment you are connected to that person. A thought for the next time you read my page remember I'm posting my feelings for all to see. For those of you wondering who I am. David Maher

just a note to say sorry for the delay in updating my blog this week but with study, children, and work I'm becoming a slave to the clock, 24 hours just won't do anymore. I get up at 07.00 not as early as I used too and get the children to school. next to the computer to check mail while I swallow the coffee no time to sip. Then take the younger daughter to playschool for 9.30 when the wife is already gone somewhere else then study if there is time and finally to collage. This is where I get a chance to catch up on my sleep (only joking) but it's a break from the family. When I finish here I rush back home so the wife can get to work when my time overlaps hers a babtsitter is required and thats money I don't have. By the time my day is done it's 1.00/1.30am. Anyway thats my life for now but if I suceed in collage maybe a better life for me and the family. I hope it's worth it...........
I'm sitting in Bernie Goldbachs class writing on the advantages of Wi-Fi. Sadly I can't find any wireless internet access where I am. Investing in a Wi-Fi card would be money wasted unless as a classmate said "parts of Limerick city in Ireland have a good connection and when if's free, why not use it. At the moment I have Broadband being supplied by Eircom in ireland, I stuck with them as an easy way out. The hassle of contacting another service provider and setting up an account was too much for me. Maybe later I will look into other service providers but for now I comfortable with the service they provide.
If I hear of Wi-Fi in the area I will surely investigate it. The thought of a mobile internet access on my laptop and all free what else could you ask for.
